Hastings County’s Long Term care Homes are changing to operate in a more social way but are not adopting the “Butterfly model” used in England.
That model involves smaller housing units.
Hastings Manor in Belleville and Centennial Manor in Bancroft together have more than 360 residents.
Director of Long Term Care Debbie Rollins says they are working with a social model of care with more activity centres and not such scheduled activities.
She says it will be a change for staff members.
Rollins says residents will have more “flexibility” in their lives and the homes may include games rooms in the future.
You can hear Mary Thomas’ full interview with Rollins on Newsmaker Sunday, this Sunday at the noon hour on 800 CJBQ.
