Making Smile Cookies at Tim Hortons takes quite the effort, as Brighton Fire Chief Rick Caddick, and Deputy Chief Jeff Ogden can attest.
They were part of the volunteer component which helped to make some of the 5,000 Smile Cookies in support of the department.
Owner Doug Robertson presented the cheque for $4,996 Monday morning, and added two toonies taped to the back! He said he just couldn’t see not reaching the $5,000 mark.
The funds will be used toward the purchase of specialized equipment to help firefighters deal with silo fires.
Mayor Mark Walas said it was important for the volunteers to have the most effective tools on hand to deal with fires in the rural area.
