It will be a long battle, but the community is stepping up for the Quinte Humane Society.
Earlier this month, the shelter announced they were at capacity.
At one point more than 200 cats were on a wait list to get into the Humane Society, but that number is going down, slowly.
Shelter spokesperson Frank Rockett says they have put a good dent in the number of cats at the shelter.
Rockett says they also had an over-population if dogs, but things are improving on that front.
