Plans are underway to increase the social living in Hastings County’s two Long Term Care homes, Hastings Manor in Belleville and Centennial Manor in Bancroft.
Director of Long Term Care Debbie Rollins told Hastings County council this week the idea is to adopt the “Butterfly model” used in England.
Rollins says this changes the homes from a “medical model” to a “social model” of care.
Local staff have been working with Peel Region, which is already involved with the new system.
Rollins says it involves interaction between staff and residents, which could involve brunch days and pub nights, even decorating for holidays such as Halloween.
