Fire destroyed a large two storey house near Rice Lake last (Tuesday) night.
Alnwick/Haldimand fire crews responsed to a residence on the Dunnette Landing road shortly before 9 o’clock.
Five people managed to escape the burning home safely.
According to Today’s Northumberland, the estimated damage is in excess of $400,000 and officials are still investigating the cause.
The family has insurance and are currently staying at a local motel.
