UPDATE @ 3:05 p.m.: Veridian Connections says “animal interference” was the cause of what turned out to be a short power outage this afternoon.
Reports of power going out came in around 2:15 p.m., in a wide area of west-end Belleville, but the utilities company tweeted just before 3:00 p.m. that things were back to normal.
There are reporters of a significant power outage in west-end Belleville.
According to calls to Quinte News, power went out in the west-end around 2:15 this afternoon.
The Veridian Connections Outage map shows an outage affecting up to 5,000 customers, but a cause hasn’t been determined.
The map shows an affected area from Coleman Street, west to Avondale Road and from Dundas Street, north to Moira Street.
Veridian says the power is expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m.
A reminder to drivers if you come across traffic signals that are malfunctioning because of the outage, you should treat those intersections as a four-way stop.
