It is a partial win for a doggy daycare business in the southeast corner of Quinte West.
The Quinte West Planning Committee has granted a three-year temporary permit to the boarding facility and day care centre on Moira Street West between Wallbridge-Loyalist and Montrose Roads.
The business wants to grow to handle 15 dogs overnight and up to 10 dogs through the day, for up to 25 pups at a time.
Staff had recommended that the site see a maximum of five dogs at any given time.
Their concerns included insufficient parking, too many animals for the property, and the potential noise from the animals.
Mayor Jim Harrison says no one has ever complained about the business so far and thus they granted a trial permit.
He says after 36 months, they will review the project.
Council has to give final approval, which is expected in the coming weeks.
