Belleville is getting set to demolish four privately-owned buildings.
The four buildings are basically abandoned small homes that have fallen into disrepair.
They came to city council’s attention this week in a staff report.
Director of engineering Rod Bovay tells Quinte News the city “has been fighting with the owners for a couple of years” to get the demolition done but the owners have failed to comply.
He says the city is acting because neighbours are concerned about the condition of the four houses.
Bovay expects the work will be done by the end of the year. The owners will be required to pay for the cost of the demolition work.
The buildings are:
509C Dundas Street East
24 Benjamin Street
4 West Street
83 Bridge Street West
