An incident causing the unnecessary mobilization of a police SWAT team in a city in Kansas is alleged to have originated in Prince Edward County.
Prince Edward County OPP report the Gardner Police Department in Kansas received a swatting call recently.
Swatting is a harassment tactic which deceives an emergency unit into responding to an address.
OPP say investigation led them to believe the call originated on a gaming account belonging to a 17-year-old boy from Picton.
His name won’t be released.
He was charged with two counts of public mischief and three counts of uttering threats.
He appears for bail today (Tuesday).
