OPP detachments across the province are gearing up for Operation Impact over the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Officers will be targeting the “Big Four’ factors in fatal crashes: aggressive driving, impaired and distracted driving, and seat belt use.
Police say as of October 1, 156 deaths on OPP-patrolled roads have been linked to the “Big Four”.
Speeding was a factor in 50 of those incidents, distracted driving was a factor in 37, drug and alcohol impairment was a factor in 35 and not wearing a seat belt was a factor in 34.
