New provincial regulations on vision screening of children means the Hastings Prince Edward health unit will take the lead on this project which has been conducted by Lions Clubs in the area.
The Board learned on Wednesday that the revised Public Health Standards has quite a different screening process.
Board Chair Maureen Piercy says public health officials have been working with the Lions Clubs to talk about what will occur in the future.
One of the issues is collection of personal data which must be done by the public health staff.
Piercy says that the health unit will continue to talk to the Lions Clubs about how to create more awareness and other aspects of the vision program.
