An arrest made after suspicious activity on one street in Belleville led to the seizure of valuable jewellery stolen from a residence on another street previous to that.
Belleville police arrested a 54-year-old man and seized gold bracelets, rings, chains, and pendants, along with earrings and a watch.
The arresting officer recognized the jewellery as being stolen from a home on Elvins Gardens.
The man was arrested on Valleyview Crescent at 9 last night (Tuesday).
The suspect appears in court on October 25.
Meanwhile, it was car versus building in the heart of downtown Belleville yesterday (Tuesday).
City police report a car hit a building along Front Street, at Bridge Street East, at noon.
The vehicle’s airbags deployed and a 91-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
An investigation continues.
Police dealt with four other collisions in Belleville yesterday.
