A commitment made, a commitment met.
It was a proud moment for the Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary Tuesday.
The occasion was the presentation of the final $20,000 cheque toward the BGH Foundation’s Cancer Care campaign.
Back in 2015, the Auxiliary made a pledge of $100,000 for cancer care at the hospital and that pledge has been fulfilled.
The cheque was presented at the longstanding Opportunity Shop in Market Square, where much of the money the Auxiliary donates is earned.
Both Stuart Wright, Chair of the Quinte Health Care Board of Directors, and Steve Cook, the new Executive Director of the BGH Foundation, praised the hard working volunteers for the help they provide to both patients and staff at the hospital.
“It’s amazing how much money you can donate to a great cause all the while selling items at incredibly low prices. It’s a testament to your enthusiasm and hard work day in and day out,” said Wright.
The Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
