The planning process for a medical marijuana production and distribution facility in Belleville could take its next steps on Monday.
The city’s planning committee is expected to approve re-zoning of the former Sears warehouse on College Street East, to allow the facility, but will also ask that a hold be placed on issuing any permits until the company proves it has licensing from Health Canada.
Hexo is planning to lease about 500,000 square feet of the facility from Belleville Complex Inc., which owns the building.
Before the approval, members of the public will also have a chance to give input on the plan and some other proposed developments, during an official public meeting.
The planning committee meets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, in the council chambers, at City Hall.
