A Belleville man has been sentenced to two years in jail in a sexual assault case.
The incident happened in May of this year, when a teenage girl told police a man had offered her a ride home, but instead took her to a secluded area in Thurlow Ward and sexually assaulted her, before she was able to get out of his truck.
Thomas Boyle. who was 74 years old at the time of his arrest, pleaded guilty in Belleville Court Thursday to sexual assault, forcible confinement and breach of recognizance.
Boyle also received three years probation, a 20-year Sex Offender Registry order (meaning he has to report to police once a year and notify any police agency if he moves to their area) and an order to not be in parks or school grounds for the next 20 years.
He has already served four months in custody.
