The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board has seen some improvements in student test results in reading and writing and math, but they still lag behind provincial averages.
Statistics were recently made available after testing in reading, writing and math by the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
For example, in grade 3 math testing, 61% of students province-wide scored at or above the provincial average while just 47% of Hastings Prince Edward School Board students made the grade.
In grade 3 reading, 75% of students in Ontario hit or exceeded the benchmark compared to 66% of students in the local board.
However, test results are improving generally in reading and writing locally.
Test results were issued for grades 3, 6 and 9 students.
Students with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board generally scored higher than those with the local public board.
