If things don’t change, Quinte Health Care will face a significant deficit of 3.1 million dollars when its fiscal year ends.
That projection was presented by QHC board Treasurer Karen Baker in a report to the Board of Directors Tuesday.
However, provincial government officials have indicated that they understand that multi-site medium sized hospital organizations like QHC are not being financed properly under the current funding formula.
QHC President Mary-Clare Egberts says an operational review now underway will likely stress that more base funding is needed and is hopeful that the deficit situation will improve in the near future.
