A Kingston city official tells Quinte News that Darren Smith, who was employed as the city’s Supervisor of Recreation Facilities, was killed in a “storm-related incident on Friday”, but it happened at his home outside of Kingston, not near Ottawa.

Smith leaves behind a 19-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter and his wife.

A husband and father of two from Kingston was killed in Ottawa when a tornado swept through on Friday.
According to the Kingstonist, Darren Smith was at home when a large maple tree fell on him and he succumbed to his injuries.
Smith was a longtime employee with the City of Kingston and was the Supervisor of Recreation Facilities.
He leaves behind a 19-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter and his wife.
