Parks Canada says the Brighton Road Swing Bridge will open to traffic and pedestrians, on a partial basis, as soon as the navigational season ends.
In an update sent out today, Parks Canada says people and cars should be able to use the bridge by early October, with the contractor working specifically on completing what needs to be done for that to happen.
Things like completing concrete curbing, paving, lighting and other traffic safety features must be completed before the bridge can open to the public.
The statement says work on those areas will continue on good weather days and while the project isn’t complete, the bridge will be partially opened as soon as it can, to help alleviate challenges faced by residents and visitors through the summer.
The bridge, which connects Brighton to Quinte West over the Murray Canal on County Road 64, will remain closed between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., until the project is complete.
