A Trenton man has been recognized with a national award for his extensive volunteer service to the community.
At council’s meeting on Monday night, Frank Meiboom was honoured with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, on behalf of Governor General Julie Payette.
Meiboom, who, among other initiatives, was instrumental in establishing the Frankford Youth Centre in 2012, says he hopes more people will follow his lead.
The medal has an inscription of Queen Elizabeth on its front, with two interlaced hearts and a sunburst pattern on the reverse, symbolizing caring and generosity, as well as the time volunteers give to the community.
