It’s taken a while to get rolling but a major project to upgrade a recreational trail that crosses Prince Edward County is officially underway.
About 30 volunteers and County officials, many with shovels, officially broke ground on the project off Lake Street in Picton Tuesday morning.
When complete, the 46-kilometre trail will be smoothed out with a six inch crushed limestone surface.
Some of the trail in Wellington is already done, completed by the local Rotary Club.
Prince Edward Trails, a volunteer group, has raised $120,000 and County Council has committed $370,000 over three years to pay for the work.
