The Trenton Golden Hawks made their first weekend of the OJHL season a perfect one.
After a 3-1 victory in their season opener versus the Whitby Fury Friday night, the G-Hawks got a hat trick from Dylan McMahon as they held on to beat the Georgetown Raiders 3-2 on home ice Sunday night.
Steven Elliott assisted on all three McMahon goals and Ben Allard-Robitaille stopped 24 Georgetown shots in the win.
Trenton faces the Burlington Cougars in their next game on Friday. Game time 7:30 p.m. at the Duncan McDonald Community Gardens.
Meantime, another back and forth game in Prince Edward County ended in defeat for the Wellington Dukes.
A goal with just under two minutes to play in double overtime gave the Brampton Admirals a 5-4 win over the Dukes Sunday afternoon.
Madoka Suzuki scored twice for Wellington, Nick Abbott and Jacob Vreugdenhil added single tallies.
Belleville native Daniel Panetta posted two assists in the losing cause.
Next up for the Dukes is a visit to Kingston for the first time this season to take on the Voyageurs Thursday night. 7 p.m. is puck drop from the Invista Centre.
In Provincial Jr. C action, the Campbellford Rebels got a solid goaltending performance from Alex Ward in a season-opening 5-2 loss to the Amherstview Jets.
Ward faced 60 Amherstview shots and kept 55 of them out of the net, earning second star honours.
Mathieu Piazzi and Nathan Ketcheson scored for Campbellford.
