Another one of Belleville’s mayoral candidates has officially launched his campaign.
Jodie Jenkins gave a speech to supporters at Slapshot Bar and Grill Wednesday night and outlined his campaign platform and his vision if he’s elected.
Jenkins tells Quinte News he sees “a hunger and desire for new leadership” within the city.
Jenkins says his campaign pillars include modernizing how the city handles economic development, increasing the seniors tax credit from $400 to $600 and he says he’ll push to have 20% of casino revenues allocated to social programming and services, up from the current 5%.
He adds if he’s elected, no councillors’ opinions will be left out.
Jenkins is up against incumbent Mayor Taso Christopher and current councillors Egerton Boyce and Mitch Panciuk, in the October 22 vote.
