Local women and their supporters will be marching in Belleville on Thursday to “take back the night”.
The rally has been happening in the Belleville area for more than 25 years, as a way to promote awareness around sexual, relationship and domestic violence and ways to end it.
Sexual Assault Centre Educator Ellen Carlisle tells Quinte News the event aims to debunk myths about how sexual violence is committed.
Carlisle says the rally will begin at Lions Park on Station Street at 6:00 p.m. this Thursday, with a women’s march through the streets, ending back at the park later in the evening.
She adds, while the march itself is an opportunity for women and children to be heard, there are opportunities for men to be involved and engage in conversation at the rally as well.
