Down, but not out, the Wellington Dukes found a gutsy way to win their 2018-19 home opener on Friday night.
A great defensive play from newcomer Ben Woodhouse in double overtime turned into a breakaway for Andrew Rinaldi, who buried the winner to give his team a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the division rival Cobourg Cougars.
Other goals came from Adam Usinger, Jacob Vreugdenhil, Woodhouse and Madoka Suzuki.
Olivier Lafreniere made 20 saves in his return to the Dukes net.
Next game for Wellington is Sunday at 1:30 p.m. versus the Georgetown Raiders at Lehigh Arena. It’s a rematch of last season’s Buckland Cup OJHL final.
