When it meets on Monday, Belleville city council will get a look at steps under way for new washroom facilities at Zwick’s Park.
The Director of Recreation and Culture Mark Fluhrer says the first round of tendering process for the facility has begun.
Commenting to Quinte News following some complaints about accessibility to washrooms at the park, Fluhrer says there have been accessible portable toilets at Zwick’s for a couple of years “but there are still some (people) who find them not meeting requirements.”
He says the idea is to be able to have a washroom for an extended season and one that deals with accessibility.

The overall budget for the project is $500,000, with construction taking $425,000 of that.
Zwick’s is not hooked up to the city sewer system. The sewage will go to a holding tank that will be emptied periodically.
The new washroom will be built close to the Lions Pavilion and the old building will be used as storage space for events at the park.
