We have a new rainfall record for an August 8 and many have the flooded basements to prove it.
A whopping 48 millimetres of rain drenched the Quinte region yesterday (Wednesday), according to readings taken
at CFB Trenton.
That’s almost two inches of rain. The old record for an August 8 in this area was 37 millimetres of rain in 1986.
The downpours flooded streets and lightning strikes brought some trees down.
Local conservation authorities warn that creeks could still be running fast and high causing a danger to children and pets.
Today’s (Thursday) forecast is calling for drier weather, with a chance of showers or thundershowers later in the afternoon.
