Belleville police have charged a 25-year-old man with arson after a fire outside of the St. Vincent de Paul Society thrift store near the downtown early Friday morning.
High flames were seen at the back of the building at Bridge Street West and Coleman Street shortly before 4 o’clock.
Belleville firefighters doused the flames quickly. It’s believed the fire started in a dumpster and spread causing minor damage to the building itself.
After viewing video from the business, a suspect was identified and was seen standing outside another building on Front Street an hour later.
The Belleville man was also charged with breach of undertaking.
