Quinte West’s lead on the doctor recruitment front says the effort to bring more physicians to the city is making some headway.
Paula Mason says more than 140 names of medical students, residents, or doctors have been gathered from visits to five recruitment events.
Mason tells Quinte News that includes 30 “hot prospects”, who have local ties to the area or have expressed interest in coming this way.
Mason says the recruitment effort won’t bring doctors overnight, as many still have a few years of medical school or residencies to finish, but it’s a step towards setting the city up for a strong stable of local doctors moving forward.
She adds, there are some ways that businesses or the public can help to convince them in the meantime, as they visit the city on tours and practical training sessions.
Mason says she’s also working hard on doctor retention as well, making sure current local doctors have the facilities they need to continue practicing in the area.
