The use of a new tracking program helped Centre Hastings OPP locate a missing woman in Madoc.
Around 5 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the report of the missing 83-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s, who is involved in the Project Lifesaver program in Centre Hastings.
Because of the program, members of the OPP were able to quickly track the female using a radio frequency antenna and receiver.
The woman was found about kilometre away from her home approximately 16 minutes after officers arrived.
She was located lying down in a dense wooded area south of the village.
Project Lifesaver is designed to assist families that have family members in the home suffering from cognitive disabilities such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism and Down syndrome who have a propensity to wander.
