With nobody to run against him, current mayor of Centre Hastings Tom Deline, has been acclaimed to lead council for another term.
Deline has spent more than 30 years serving on the town’s council, including multiple terms as mayor and says this past council has been one of the best he’s worked with.
He says in the upcoming term he’d like to continue to push for a long term care and seniors living facility, saying Centre Hastings has some perfect land for that type of development.
His other priority is to continue to improve the downtown core, by cleaning up some storefronts and now-defunct gas stations.
Meanwhile, the official July numbers aren’t in yet, but Deline says the town has surpassed $7 million worth of construction value, in this calendar year.
The town saw just over $1 million worth of building value in June of this year alone, which included a few houses, some renovations, farm development and other work.
Deline tells Quinte News there are many reasons people are choosing to make their permanent, or vacation homes in Centre Hastings, including a vibrant and active downtown core.
Deline says there are another 60 lots, split between two subdivisions, currently under construction and the town still has plenty of water and sewer capacity to handle the new building.
