The City of Quinte West looks like it will back another investment into the Eastern Ontario Regional Network’s cellular improvement program.
EORN’s Jim Pine spoke to council on Tuesday giving the highlights of what the group has accomplished so far and outlining the next steps, to improve high-speed cellular service to a 50,000 square kilometre area of eastern Ontario.
Pine says, if all of EORN’s member municipalities buy into the plan, Quinte West’s share of phase one would cost a little more than $288,000, but it could also jump to closer to $407,000.
While there was some concern from residents about EORN’s high speed internet plan not paying off for rural residents, council decided to ask for a staff report on the issue, but seemed supportive of the project’s next phase.
