The head of the Hastings-Quinte EMS is praising the cooperation between his staff and the OPP after a search for a missing person in Prince Edward County Thursday.
Police began looking for the woman around North Beach around 11:30 a.m. and asked the EMS staff for use of their side-by-side off road vehicle, to look for the woman in rugged terrain.
Hastings-Quinte EMS Chief Doug Socha tells Quinte News it’s slightly unusual for paramedics to be involved in searching for a patient, but the vehicle is a good added resource for all emergency personnel to use.
The woman was found around 2:30 in the afternoon, after being spotted by the OPP helicopter and she was taken to Trenton Memorial Hospital with severe, but non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Socha says at the same time, paramedics responded to the Dunes at Sandbanks Provincial Park for a report of a near drowning.
Details about the victim weren’t released, but online reports indicate it was a male and Socha says he was taken to hospital in Picton and then transferred to Kingston General Hospital.
