Many of us are familiar with the popular Cops and Kids fishing derbies put on by the Belleville Police Service, but recently police have been busy with the cops and cows derby.
Belleville police officers spent around five hours Monday night into Tuesday morning rounding up cattle in the area of Old Highway 2 and Mitchell Road near the boundary with Tyendinaga.
The cows got out of their pasture through a broken fence and wandered onto the roads.
The owner of the livestock couldn’t immediately be reached and the city’s Public Works Department eventually put in a temporary fence to keep the cattle in their field.
An investigation continues.
