Belleville council is likely to take an important step toward making a new police headquarters a reality.
At its meeting Monday afternoon, council will be asked to accept a tender of a little over $21 million dollars plus tax to do renovations and new construction for the new police station at College Street West and Sidney Streets.
Staff is recommending the low bid from Ottawa area company Buttcon East Ltd. A total of four companies submitted tenders.
The entire budget for the police headquarters is close to $26 million, up from the original consultant’s estimate of 21 million.
