The state of the art marina in Quinte West is getting a Blue Flag this week, and that is good news in more ways than one.
The Blue Flag is handed out by the group Environmental Defence and is given to marinas that commit to high levels of environmental excellence, safety, and sustainability.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says the flag indicates to visitors they are in for a great experience at Trent Port Marina.
There are only nine marinas nationally that have the Blue Flag designation.
Kelsey Scarfone is the Blue Flag Program Manager and says Trent Port Marina is a world class facility and the designation marks their commitment to safety for guests and the environment.
A flag raising is taking place at the marina Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
