Demand for help from city council is strong among business and property owners in downtown Belleville.
At its meeting Monday afternoon, city council will be asked to take $135,000 from a casino economic development account so more grants under its downtown facade program can be made for this year.
At the halfway point of the year, eight grants have been approved, and four more are pending.
If council approved the four new applications, the account would be over $45,000 in deficit.
In the past two years, a total of 21 property owners took advantage of the facade program in the downtown.
