Brighton councillor Steve Baker says if this council is to leave a legacy, he wants it to be in support of conservation.
Mark Stabb, program director for Nature Conservancy Canada, (NCC), made a presentation to Brighton Council Monday night asking for financial support in its bid to purchase the Brighton Wetland south of Cty Rd 64 west of Boes Road.
The property was the former St. Mary’s Cement property.
Ducks Unlimited, NCC and the federal government have teamed up to cover the majority of the million dollar plus property, and they’re short about $400,000.
During “Unfinished Business” council approved a donation of $15,000 matching a recent donation by Lower Trent Conservation.
Individual donations may be made to NCC.
