Everybody is benefiting from a new home build project in Quinte West.
On Thursday afternoon, as part of the Home Build for Healthcare project, members of TMHF and McDonald Homes were on hand to transfer keys and ownership to new home buyers Nick and Sharifa Mohammed Yar, who own Imperial Tailoring in Trenton.
The proceeds from the sale of this home, located at 145 Bay Street in Trenton, will go towards the #CareforTomorrow campaign, which raises funds for new, essential medical equipment for TMH. This is the fourth Home Build for Health Care House for the TMH Foundation, with the previous three donated by Staikos Homes, Geertsma Homes and West Side Developers.

Chair of Our TMH and realtor Mike Cowan says the housing market was “crazy” last year and realized there was a need for sufficient homes for people who live and work in Quinte West, along with the needs of people who use hospital resources on a regular basis in the community. This allowed them to work out a system to get as many as 54 local labourers, suppliers and businesses on board to help with this initiative.
Cowan adds the most important aspect of this build is the benefits the community as a whole will receive.

The TMH Foundation’s funding goal for this year is close to $2.9 million. Just some of the equipment they are aiming to get include; a new CT Scanner, replacing of four acute care and complex beds and numerous pieces of orthopedic equipment, among others. TMH Foundation Executive Director Wendy Warner says it’s not certain yet exactly how much money the build raised.
