There is some new funding available to assist those unemployed residents in Prince Edward County.
Katy Mitchell from Career Edge spoke to council members on Thursday afternoon and provided some details of the training available.
She says the funding will help develop hard and soft skills and provide experiential learning.
Mitchell says many employers say they lack the time to train new employees and require staff to hit the ground running.
As of June 6, Mitchell said 58% of their job postings were in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Councillor Brad Nieman asked how they would get more full-time jobs brought to the region.
Mitchell says they are proposing employees be trained in multiple areas such as front and back of house so they can be kept on for longer periods of time.
Council was happy to hear of the strategies being proposed to help people gain employment and the possibility of keeping that job longer than just seasonally.
