Monday, The Children’s Foundation celebrated its 18th, ‘Reach for Success Youth Awards’ ceremony. Reach for Success Bursaries were given to 54 young people and 66 children and youth received Youth Awards to recognize their achievement in one of six categories: Academics, Arts, Sports & Recreation, Volunteer & Public Service, Culture & Heritage and Personal Best.
“Throughout the year, we raise funds to support this amazing program and every year it is one my favourite nights” commented Connie Reid, Executive Director, The Children’s Foundation serving Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties. The evening started with a powerful message from Thomas Crowhurst, past recipient of TCF Youth Awards and bursaries. During the evening over 60 children and youth received a Youth Award from JK to grade 12 and after those awards, over 50 bursaries will be given to youth attending college or university in the fall, or youth continuing their post-secondary education, it is such a magical evening and we are so proud of each and every one these individuals.”
“It is both humbling and invigorating to hear the stories of success these young people have shared. On behalf of everyone at Highland Shores Children’s Aid I offer our sincere congratulations to these children and youth, who have shown personal strength and perseverance to accomplish these goals. We thank the community for their continued support to help these children and youth who have been able to take a different and positive path because of that support. We look forward to celebrating the educational accomplishments of these and many more young people in the future”, said Mark Kartusch, Executive Director of Highland Shores Children’s Aid.
