A rookie politician has upset a long-time MPP and will represent Northumberland-Peterborough South as part of the PC government.
Twenty-nine-year-old David Piccini finished atop the voting, ahead of NDPer Jana Papuckoski and veteran Liberal MPP Lou Rinaldi.
He tells Quinte News, despite being new to the political game, he wasn’t at all surprised with the overwhelming victory.
Piccini added his team stuck with a positive plan to put money back in people’s pockets, lower hydro rates and create a climate for economic opportunity in the riding.
And he thanked Rinaldi for his years of service to the community saying “he has some big shoes to fill”.
Meanwhile, Rinaldi says he wasn’t completely shocked by the way things turned out, given Kathleen Wynne’s recent concession.
The veteran politician downplayed any speculation that he may take a run at the mayor’s seat in Brighton, now that he’ll no longer be working at Queen’s Park.
