A Quinte West woman, whose daughter was killed almost 25 years ago, says a Voter ID card sent to her home has brought her right back to that tragic day.
Seventy-year-old Bernice Kirkham says the ID card of John Breen arrived at her Trenton home recently, a house the murderer never set foot in.
Tanya Twist (John Breen’s cousin), Debbie Breen (John Breen’s mother), and Kirkham’s daughter Laurie Ann (Breen’s common law partner), were killed in Bancroft on December 31, 1993.
Bernice Kirkham contacted Quinte News Thursday morning, saying John Breen’s Voter ID card also came to her Trenton home for the 2015 federal election.
She says she notified election officials in 2o15 and they apologized for the situation.
The provincial ID card came last week, and her granddaughter (Breen’s daughter) made the discovery.
John Breen was Lori Ann’s common-law partner, and father to their two children, who both were raised by Bernice after the murder.
Crown Attorney Lee Burgess says Breen was found guilty of murder in a Belleville court in 1995, and has been in prison since.
Bernice says this makes her hurt all over again.
The main question is why or how could this happen?
We have reached out to Elections Ontario for comment, however due to the fact it is election day in the Province of Ontario, we will likely not hear back for a few days.
