Over $9 million worth of building activity was planned in the City of Belleville in the month of May.
The city issued 97 building permits worth $9.3 million.
Among them were 22 permits for new residential units.
The largest project approved was an expansion of the Belleville Transit terminal on Coleman Street, valued at almost $1.4 million.
Meanwhile, construction value in May of last year was much higher but that was due to two major projects.
One was a $1.1 million renovation at Sir James Whitney and the other a $7 million expansion of Vantage Foods’ plant in the industrial park.
To the end of May this year, building permits valued at $31 million have been issued in Belleville.
For the same period in 2017, permits valued at almost $48 million had been issued.
