A Markham man will stand trial beginning Monday on a second degree murder charge after a Belleville native was killed in Burlington in the fall of 2014.
Elizabeth Nugent, who was 32 at the time, died of stab wounds. Her body was found in her apartment.
Halton Region police officers were involved in a four hour standoff with a man at the time.
Forty-six-year-old Malcolm Copeland was charged.
Jury selection begins Monday and four weeks have been set aside for the trial which is being held in a courtroom in Milton.
