The Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service between May 27, 2018 at 5 a.m. and May 28, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Disturbances
On May 27, 2018, at 11:33 a.m. officers attended on Emily Street regarding a disturbance. An adult male advised that he had been assaulted by an unknown female. The woman was located nearby and arrested. The 26-year-old Belleville woman was charged with two counts of assault and one count of mischief. She will appear in court on June 28, 2018. There were no injuries.
Arrested on warrants
On May 27, 2018, at 11:07 a.m. a 21-year-old Belleville man turned himself in on an outstanding warrant. He was held for a bail hearing on May 28, 2018 on a charge of breach of a recognizance.
On May 27, 2018 officers travelled to the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre in Ottawa to return a 36-year-old Belleville man to the Belleville area for court purposes. He was held for a bail hearing on May 28 on five counts of breach of a recognizance.
On May 28, 2018, at 4:35 a.m. an officer recognized a male on Stone Street who was wanted on warrants. A 33-year-old Belleville man was arrested on the warrants. He will appear in court on June 28, 2018 on charges of possessing counterfeit money and failing to appear in court.
Multiple thefts
On May 27, 2018, at 8 p.m. officers attended at a north end business regarding a male who had opened a package containing a box cutter. Officers located the male and learned that the box cutter was in the “open” position inside the front of the male’s pants. The male was intending to cut security tags off products in the store. During the arrest several movies were located in a plastic bag that had been stolen from another store. The 18-year-old Belleville man was charged with two counts of theft and carrying a concealed weapon. He will appear in court on June 14, 2018.
