Living in the countryside in remote areas has its advantages but there are serious disadvantages as well.
OPP were notified of a house fire on Boulter Road east of Maynooth in Carlo Mayo Township sometime after 3 o’clock Friday morning.
However, the township does not operate a fire department. Carlo Mayo has a population of around 900 people.
The township sent out a water truck and the Bancroft fire department was alerted as well as Hydro One and Ministry of Natural Resources officials.
A woman got out of the house, which is back off the road in the woods. Paramedics were called in as well.
