Visitors to the National Air Force Museum of Canada will now be able to learn a bit more about CFB Trenton’s “founding father”.
A new exhibit, Fraser’s Flying Field for Trenton, opens at the museum on the base Thursday afternoon.
Executive Director Chris Colton tells Quinte News the exhibit tells the story of former Trenton Mayor William “Billy” Fraser, who was integral in the decision to bring the base to the region.
Colton says the exhibit features various videos, artifacts and documents telling the story of Fraser’s life and gives an in depth look of the town of Trenton at the time.
The exhibit also features an eight foot tall model of the distinctive lighthouse that stands at 8 Wing.
Fraser would go on to become a Canadian senator and the base, as most know, has grown to become the country’s largest and most active air force base.
