A Belleville Police Auxiliary Constable and a local realtor have been awarded for acts of bravery and community service.
Auxilary Constable Dakota Cleary-Porritt was issued a Force Commendation on Tuesday after helping to take down a domestic assault suspect, who injured two other officers during the incident on April 6, 2018.
Cleary-Porritt jumped in to help subdue the man after he bit Constable Josh Woodcock.
Another officer involved, Constable Ryan Laycoe tore a ligament in this thumb during the arrest and Cleary-Porritt also stayed on his volunteer shift to help with post-arrest paperwork.
Local realtor Jamie Troke was also given a Belleville Police Citizen recognition for comforting and providing first aid to an elderly man who had fallen and hit his head on a curb, in the city’s downtown core, in mid-March.
