The Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls for service between May 20, 2018 at 5 a.m. and May 21, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Weapons
On May 20, 2018, at 9:55 a.m. police responded to an apartment building on Bridge Street West in relation to a woman brandishing a sword. The 911 caller advised that the woman had kicked in the door to her apartment and was standing there with a sword in her hands. The suspect went into an adjacent apartment. Officers located the woman in the apartment and arrested her. The woman told the officers that she couldn’t be arrested as she was “royalty”. Seized was a red Samurai sword. A 32-year-old Belleville woman was held for a bail hearing on May 21, 2018 on charges of weapons dangerous and mischief to property under $5000. No one was injured in this incident.
Disturbances
On May 20, 2018, at 6:55 p.m. multiple calls were received about a woman who was “out of control” and fighting people on Tracey Park Drive. Several people had been assaulted including one person who had been bitten. An 18-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. None of the persons had a complaint of assault. The woman was issued a provincial offence notice.
On May 20, an investigation revealed that a male had been struck by a pool cue in an area bar. An ambulance was summoned to treat his minor injuries. Neither the injured party nor his friends would co-operate with police.
On May 21, 2018, at 12:25 a.m. police attended at a downtown bar in relation to four women fighting. The fight was over upon police arrival. One woman had minor injuries but no one had a complaint.
Bail Violation
On May 20, 2018, at 11:20 p.m. police attended on Crestview Avenue in relation to a male causing problems in the home. The male had fled from the residence prior to police arrival. The 37-year-old Belleville man was bound by conditions of a recognizance which included abiding by a curfew. A warrant has been issued for this male for breaching his recognizance. The investigation is continuing.
Intoxicated Person
On May 20, 2018, at 10:35 p.m. several calls were received about a woman stumbling into traffic in the area of Dundas Street East at Singleton Drive. A 37-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for her own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. She was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
Prowl by night
On May 21, 2018, at 12:15 a.m. police attended on Hutton Drive in the city’s west end in relation to a male entering vehicles. The homeowner chased the suspect on foot. Responding units located the male on Sidney Street and arrested him. Nothing had been taken from the vehicle from Hutton Drive. An 18-year-old Belleville man was charged with prowl by night. He will appear in court on June 14, 2018.
